    In the early american old west if you ever wagered everything you owned in a poker game, You had to remove the nuts off of your wagon wheels and put them on the table. This would ensure that you could not leave without making good on the bet.
    Hence the term "THE NUTS"

    i also thought it meant that you gave up the last of your goods which was your wagon, but  they used the nuts because the wagon was to heavy to put on the table  Grin
