UIGEA on it's way out? The US House Financial Services Committee voted overwhelmingly Wednesday to approve legislation to license and regulate online gambling. The Committee voted 41-22 in favor of HR2267, Rep. Barney Frank's Internet Gambling Regulation, Consumer Protection and Enforcement Act

Don't go dancing in the streets just yet Texaswheelers. It is still a long road from committee approval to an actual law. And then of course, the question whether the resulting law will be a benefit for the US online poker players.

Well this is great news, I just have to wonder that once the laws are lifted then what our sweet congress has in store to make sure we get the full enjoyment of the game.

Wasnt there something about this yesterday? Wasnt it approved by the house?

State of New Jersey House approved online gaming. The casinos in Atlantic City will be able to run online gaming for the residents of New Jersey and the rest of the world. The bill now goes to the New Jersey Senate where it is expected to pass

The land based casinos that were reported to be the force behind getting UIGEA passed now realize their mistake.  Land based casinos are not a growth industry while online gaming is.  It would be funny if this wasn't such a mess, but the land based casinos want UIGEA gone... replaced by something that gives them the upper hand in the online environment in the US.

Hoping something is done in the lame duck session of Congress
