Hey folks, I can't write poetry, but maybe some of you all can. Here's one I found on the web to start you all off. I'm thinking that there must be a poker player amongst us that has poetry skills.
SO HEAR THIS: I am putting a bounty on witchywitchy, our TW site administrator
$5.00 (FIVE DOLLARS) transferred to your CAKE poker account.
WRITE A POEM ABOUT WITCHYWITCHY
CONTEST RULES:
Contest ends May 31, 2008 Results posted here JUNE 5, 2008
A screenshot of the money transfer will be posted.
MINIMUM ENTRIES REQUIRED: 30 posts by 30 DIFFERENT people. You of course may post as many times as wish, but I need at least 30 different people to post. Contest is null and void if the minimum required posts are not met.
JUDGING: I will have final say in this matter (It is my five bucks dammit). But I will ask bucnright (who will be ineligible if he accepts) his opinion, and also try to get a few "official" poker poetry experts (they have many poker poetry blogs out there) opinion. In any case, I will make the final decision.
Contest is only open to members of the TexasWheel Forum.
Your poem must include/be about witchywitchy AND poker.
So, lets have fun with this..
Here is a poker poem to get you all started. For those of you who didn't even know there was such a thing as poker poetry
The March Of The Poker Hands
The lowest of hands
Has no cards that share
And next comes the hand
With only One Pair
But if you can add
One pair to another
Perhaps it is Two Pair
That can beat your brother
A third of the same
Gives you Three of a Kind
Or string five cards together
And Straight comes to mind
The numbers a jumble
Yet all of one suit
Well, that is a Flush
That brings you the loot
Take two of a kind
And three of another
And you have a Full House
To show to your mother
When your cards look the same
Because four of them match
It is Four of a Kind
That you have in your batch
And if you can get them
To march nice and straight
While all of one suit
A Straight Flush is your bait
If the cards are in order
And to a suit they are loyal
With the highest an Ace
Then your Straight Flush is Royal
You might think we are done
But with wild cards around
There is even a chance for
Five of a Kind to be found
At last we have come
To the end of our game
Now you know all the hands
And can call them by name
