Being a college student you should be surrounded with others that are playing online poker. And by your picking 1/2 no limit sounds like you are familiar with the game

So, if you are already playing cash tables, not sure what your question is?

Well, firstly, I recommend you NOT play 1/2 NL ring, if you're serious about a part-time income.  The variance is simply too high, and unless you're starting with a bankroll of at MINIMUM 4k, you're not going to succeed.  A serious stab at it would require at least 10k to cover the variance you'll inevitably encounter.

If you're sitting on 10k, you've probably got time to look for that job.

That said, I recommend you start by figuring out your budget, and how much you NEED to make each month to meet that number.  Break this down to a daily number, say, $50/day, and THEN determine how you're going to achieve that goal.

I recommend SnGs, focusing on one or two games a day, to hit your goal.  Personally, I enjoy the double-ups at Merge, as they allow for a consistent growth of your bankroll over time, and make it easier to hit my target on a daily basis.  However, any SnG is a good start.  Play what you're comfortable and confident with.

LASTLY, and most important.  DON'T get greedy.  Especially if this is your JOB.  Get what you came for, and step away.  Every day.  Set a limit for your daily losses, and eat them that day, if you must.

Good Luck!
