I was checking my email today and read about a new Hold'em game that sounds kind of interesting...No River Hold'em developed by the New Poker LLC.

I haven't been able to find a lot of information about it yet, but the basics are...

Instead of 2 hole cards, there are 3.  Players can use 1, 2 or all 3 hole card to make their hands.  There is no river card, therefore, one less round of betting.  Starting hands that are possible increases from 1,326 to 22,100!  Shocked

With that many possbilities, this variation of Hold'em should appeal to players who like to use a lot of strategy in their poker game.  Also, the pots are generally bigger because more people stay in the hand and there is more betting involved.

I think it sounds fun and am looking forward to trying it out.  If anyone finds any good information about strategy for this game, I would be interested...Thanks!

There are so many variations of "texas hold'em". The 3 card hole poker is just one of them. Several of the 3 card games (manila and spanish poker) also play with a reduced deck so the combinations are not as expansive and more luck than skill is involved

Crazy Pineapple is a 3 card hole poker game that has been online. With it... after the flop 2 rounds of betting. The variation... everyone discards one of their hold cards. After the discard and the turn and river are dealt and played just as in "Texas Hold'em"

I think a lot of players are getting bored with playing the same game all the time - yet they are unwilling to leave their comfort zone and try differnet poker games like omaha or stud. The 3 hole card variation is an attemp to be familiar like texas holdem but still be different enough to relieve the boredom
