Heres a situation I have trouble with. I never know exactly how strong or passive to play AK. I know alot of players over play it so what's the best way to play it preflop. Then when the flop comes and you miss this is where I usually get in trouble. If I played it really strong preflop then miss the flop the continuation bet will often pot commit me unless I have lots of chips but in these 1500 chip starting tournys you usually dont have that much room to spare. So any ideas let me know thanks

AK is all about position and knowing the other players and not getting pot commited in early MTT

I play ak aggressive preflop and then if I miss I slow way down. Maybe a continue bet but if they keep coming you got to lay it down. I make alot of money off people who can't lay that hand down. I also lay it down to a reraise

Agressive preflop, but if the flop is missed, its very easy to get away from.  Positon and stacks are also considered.

I think the Agressive preflop, is so dependant on position, and stage of the game. I like to call with it when faced with 2+ others allready raising (Not always). Look, the flop misses AK a hell of a lot. Pre-flop rasing with it gives u C-bet cred tho.

Basically, I used to always raise with it. Now I pick and chose my times, and get better results.

I've read that with AK, you want to narrow the field to just one.  Try to raise and push others off.  Assuming that you have one caller, then, upon the flop, you'll know.  If you hit your A, you can assume that you've got the best hand.  If he/she is holding Q10, and AQ4 hits...you've got quite an impressive lead.

Avoid slow-playing it.  Simply raise aggressive, and narrow your field to one.
