Hi everyone,

Been having trouble finishing Tournaments in a way that I would like.  Typically, I'm short-stacked, edging my way into the money, which is nice, but would like to know what it is that makes a top player get the bigger pay-off.  I don't play for alot of coin, mostly FR's and such, or minimum buy-ins, usually under $3.00.  I seem to survive, but can't take it to the next level.  Any suggestions?

  Some factors:

1)  Usually get off to a quick start
2)  If I don't get off to a quick start, I'm typically in the top 1/3 of the field
3)  Generally, with, say top 10 money...with 24 left...I'm sitting at 21 or 19.  Can't find my way higher.

Any input from better players, I'd be obliged, thank you!

Its a tuff nut to crack romefan.

that said, it comes down to knowing your opponents, and how they play. that is, their card ranges. Start learning blind stealing is the first tip I have, for late stage Tournaments.

I think that just about any player, that knows the basics, can and does and will bubble. But late stage Tournaments are not about basics and solid playing. They are about knowing your opponents and how THEY play. It's a different game, time teaches you.

Thank you, that's a good piece of advice to start.  Will watch closely.

Happened again..stuck around long enough to make it interesting, outta 1500...got to the final 22...but it's not really even poker at that point...everybody simply jams all in, or bullies to steal blinds...there's no "playing" the game at that point.  And...with the SS, it's difficult to make your play.  When you get cards, often, nobody takes you on.  Frustrating.
